Dan and his winners

A dad, Dan Buchanan from Oronoco, MN, wanted a mini 120 RXL for his oldest boy. He began forming the hood but didn’t get beyond finishing the pre-mold pattern. He came to me because I was making RXL hoods for full sized Indys. I completed his pattern and made a mold. We started making hoods as partners but I soon turned it all over to him because it made no sense to split a $100 profit between two of us. I think he made a few hoods then kinda let the sales slide because he reached his primary goal of a neat sled for his kid. Years later, I learned he took his mold back from the company who was making the hoods. He turned the mold over to Steve, a friend of his from Wisconsin. I made an arrangements with Steve to get the mold back and I am now selling them.

The product is still the same but the costs have risen. To keep the price as low as possible I am using a “house blue” from my supplier. It’s cheaper than custom made Midnight Blue. I rather like the new brighter blue because it isn’t so black looking. See if you agree. The minute prices start to come down I’ll pass them along to you. Hoods are made to your order so give me some time to get them from my supplier in western Minnesota.

Menu items--you can pick from this list what you want. I don’t recommend you attempt to install your own graphics unless you are a pro because it’s a screaming bitch.

  • Lively House Buelue $449.00
  • Midnight Blue $499.00
  • Graphics $249.00
  • Install Graphics $ 75.00

(I could do a house, black, white and a house gray at the $449 price if you have some other idea in mind.)

Dan Buchanan's son Zack aboard a Mini RXL powered by a Briggs Animal four stroke was unbeatable at the grass drags... no one challenged him.

Race goers made complimentary comments about the mini RXL. Dan can tell you what he did to this mini terror--write him at dbuchanan@mosquitosquad.com.
